Upper School Distance Learning

Beginning Wednesday, March 18, Upper School classes will use PowerSchool, Google, and Zoom technologies to conduct distance learning sessions and check-in with students on a daily basis, Tuesday through Friday.

Daily attendance will be taken. Please email Luticia Williams if your child is not participating in distance learning for the day.

Advisors will reach out and be available to ensure student wellbeing during the closure.

Dean of Students Toni Myers-Perry is available to assist students with overall health and wellness. Students may schedule time during her office hours.

At this time there is no required coursework for Athletics.

What to Expect

  • PowerSchool is the central way students will know about class expectations and assignments.
    • Students are expected to monitor PowerSchool to check for new assignments and/or resources
  • Google and other web-based programs will continue to be used in middle and upper school classes.
  • Zoom Education allows students to meet virtually as a class with their teachers.
    • Students will use Zoom for a whole class meeting at their typically scheduled class times.
    • Students will receive meeting invitations via their Barrie email address. Students will only need to click the link in the email to enter the meeting room, and do not need Zoom accounts.

Parents can help students stay organized. Depending on the student's age and organizational ability, parents should help their student attend classes on time through the platform, stay abreast of assignments using PowerSchool, and help them advocate for themselves when they have issues or questions.

If your student has an identified learning difference, please contact Director of Prep Learning Services Helen Mahoney for assistance.
