It was wonderful seeing so many of you on January 3rd to play basketball against students and faculty! Included in this email are pictures of the event, and information on more happenings at Barrie.

AFTER PROM FUNDRAISER - January 22, 2019

Join Barrie families, faculty and staff for lunch or dinner, Dine In or Take Out on Tuesday, January 22 from 11:00am - 9:00pm at The Big Greek Cafe, 4007 Norbeck Road in Rockville. Drop your receipts in the colorful Barrie box on the counter. The restaurant will donate a portion of sales to Barrie's After Prom.

CELEBRATION OF LIFE - January 27, 2019

John Fuller, a well loved science teacher at Barrie School back in the 90's, passed away in November 2018. John's son, Woody and ex-wife, Terry will host a Celebration of Life in John's memory on Sunday, January 27 from 11:00am - 2:00pm at 1408 Foggy Glen Court, Silver Spring, MD 20906.

 

Guests may arrive as early as 11am; the speakers will begin at noon. There will be food and drinks served. Please come with a smile, a funny story, or a memory to share. Extra points for bringing the unapologetic apathy that John would have brought should he have been invited (joking). Dress code: comfortable, aka "John Fuller Chic."

31 DAYS OF GRATITUDE  - Jan 15 - Feb 14, 2019

Barrie's 31 Days of Gratitude is a school-wide initiative focused on exploring and practicing gratitude in our lives. From January 15 - February 14, Barrie will be empowering students to express their gratitude!

 

These dates were selected to coincide with national days of gratitude:

• January 21 - Martin Luther King, Jr. Day - a National Day of Service
• January 28 - February 1 - the Great Kindness Challenge
• February 14 - Valentines Day
  
  

How can I participate?

Challenge yourself and others to take time during each day to reflect on gratitude in your life. Follow Barrie School on Facebook and Instagram for messages of gratitude and look for a weekly email from Barrie that will highlight gratitude across campus.

Give Gratitude

As we reflect on gratitude as a community, it's a good time to think about those in the past that gave us what we have today. It is also a time to recognize and give back to people and places in our lives. At Barrie, the Annual Fund is essential to helping us support each student. We are grateful for those that have supported Barrie through both service and philanthropic gifts. We encourage everyone to take time to show your gratitude through a gift to the Annual Fund.  

SAVE THE DATE - April 6, 2019

Planning is underway for Barrie's annual fundraising auction, For the Love of Barrie. The event will be held Saturday, April 6, 2019. Be sure to save the date and join us for a fun evening in support of Barrie!
