Barrie Camp employs a summer staff of over 150 counselors, specialists and leaders. We seek staff who can respectfully, enthusiastically and lovingly interact with children. Positions range from entry level to those that require specific training, education and experience. Working with children and their families demands a unique and personal commitment.
Summer Camp Employment
Our staff are the backbone of camp, and one of the aspects campers remember most! Staff members are carefully screened, educated, and evaluated prior to and throughout the summer. Our staff members are highlights of the Barrie Camp experience!
Current Open Counselor Positions
- Counselor-In-Training (rising 10th grader)
- Junior Counselor (rising 11th or 12th grader)
- Senior Counselor (high school graduate)
Current Open Specialist Positions
Specialist positions are open for potential staff who have a specific focus, interest or background in a particular area. Specialist are typically college students or older.
- Arts and Crafts Specialist
- Drama Specialist
- Horseback Riding Specialist
- Lower Camp Room Specialist (must be at least a junior or senior in college)
- Nature Specialist
- Overnight Assistant Director
*Lifeguards are required to pass the Red Cross lifeguard certification course. This can be done after being offered the role.
Barrie is a non-profit organization and a designated Student Service Learning (SSL) site. Public and private school students who are C/CITs and CITs benefit from Barrie’s leadership programing and receive SSL credits.
Barrie Camp offers two Leadership Training Programs:
Camper / Counselor-In-Training (C/CIT) - A Specialty Camp for rising 9th graders. C/CITs must enroll in the program for a minimum of two weeks.
Counselor-in-Training (CIT) Program - A service opportunity for rising 10th graders. Apply Online
