Welcome from the Barrie Admission Team.

Thank you for your interest in our extraordinary environment for learning. Barrie Montessori serves students from age 18 Months through Grade 5. Barrie Prep serves students from Grade 6 through Grade 12. We provide a seamless transition between our Montessori and Prep programs. Barrie’s rigorous academic program encourages students to develop their own individual interests and talents through hands-on, experiential learning. Students search beyond the obvious for answers, explore topics and issues from many perspectives, and share their own ideas with peers and teachers in a diverse and engaging community.

Barrie is an independent school located on a beautiful 45-acre wooded campus in Silver Spring, Maryland, only minutes away from the nation’s capital. We invite you to visit our campus to experience a compelling sense of student engagement. You may also schedule a tour of our campus by contacting our admission office at 301.576.2800 or at admission@barrie.org.

2. Complete an Online Application
There are separate applications for Barrie Montessori and Barrie Prep; please select the appropriate application. The application is submitted with a non-refundable $50 fee. You will receive a confirmation email once your application is submitted.

3. Submit Supporting Documents
Download the appropriate transcript request and submit it to your current school, if applicable.

Teacher Recommendations are also required, however you will be prompted for teacher contact information while completing the online application. The corresponding recommendation will be submitted to that teacher automatically. For your reference, these form are also available below.

4. Schedule a Student Visit
Once the application is submitted, applicants for Primary 3 through grade 12 will be contacted by an admissions team member to schedule required student visits. We value the student visit in lieu of third party testing. During the admission process, testing may be recommended on an individual basis. Visits vary in length depending on age of student.

Admission Decisions
The office of Admission and Financial Aid will notify you when your application file has been completed. Admission decision letters will be mailed the first week of March. Following first round admission decisions, applications will be considered as space is available.
