How to Apply

Step 1 - Visit Barrie for a Tour

We recommend that you attend an upcoming Admission Event, or contact us to schedule a tour at 301.576.2800 or admission@barrie.org.

Step 2 - Complete an Online Application

Begin your online application here and track the status of your application throughout the process. A non-refundable $50 application fee is required. Applications are due on January 18, 2019 to be eligible for first round decisions.

Step 3 - Submit Supporting Documentation

Once you have submitted your application:

  • Send the appropriate teacher recommendation by entering the teacher's email address where prompted on the home screen of your account. It will be listed under "Action Items."
  • Download the Transcript Request form from your "Action Items" and request records from the previous two years. This is sent to the registrar of your current school and they will send it back to Barrie directly by email, mail, or fax.

Step 4 - Complete Required Admission Testing

Complete required testing of either ISEE or SSAT if applying for Grades 6-12. Test scores must be received before an application is complete. There is no minimum score requirement.

Step 5 - Schedule Student Visit and Parent Interview

Once your application is submitted, applicants for Primary 3 through grade 12 will be contacted to schedule the required student visit. During the visit, your child will spend time in class with students and teachers in the grade for which they are applying. Visits vary in length depending on age of student.

Parent Interviews are required for all applicants and are typically scheduled on the same days as student visits. Interviews typically last about 30 minutes.

Admission Decisions

Applicants are notified by email of their admission decision during the first week of March. Following first round admission decisions, applications will be considered as space is available. During the admission process, testing may be recommended on an individual basis.
