Mid-Year Classes for the Institute for Advanced Montessori Studies


Students of the Class of 2010 have recently completed the mid-year sessions of the Montessori training at the Institute. Some highlights of the sessions include:

• Elementary students, under the guidance of Upper Elementary teacher Judy Yormick, traveled to the Smithsonian Natural History Museum to observe exhibits connected to the Early Humans component of the training.
• Students at all levels were able to work in our Montessori c

Students of the Class of 2010 have recently completed the mid-year sessions of the Montessori training at the Institute. Some highlights of the sessions include:

• Elementary students, under the guidance of Upper Elementary teacher Judy Yormick, traveled to the Smithsonian Natural History Museum to observe exhibits connected to the Early Humans component of the training.
• Students at all levels were able to work in our Montessori classrooms, using the spaces for oral exam presentations.
• Elementary students and teachers from Barrie and other schools had the opportunity to attend a workshop presented by Jennifer Morgan, an author, storyteller, and speaker who presents workshops on storytelling and the Great Lessons.
• Early Childhood students completed their mid-year session last week, having classes in the Wat Thai.
• Early Childhood and Elementary students had the chance to observe the Barrie Lower School classes in action.
• All students enjoyed being back on campus and seeing the great work being done throughout the school year.

These students will return to campus in June to complete their training and earn the Montessori credential from the American Montessori Society. At the same time, the new students of the Class of 2011 will begin their Montessori journey in June.
