The Institute Facilities

The Barrie School’s 45-acre wooded campus provides a serene and stimulating learning environment for Institute students. The Barrie campus offers well-equipped, state-of-the-art early childhood and elementary Montessori classrooms for lectures and demonstrations. These classrooms also provide extensive Montessori curriculum centers for assimilation and practice.

Classrooms are equipped for material-making capabilities, including reproduction facilities. An extensive professional library is located at the Institute Offices, and a lounge is conveniently located for IAMS students to eat, relax, and socialize. The use of other areas of the Barrie campus, i.e. the Olympic-size swimming pool and the Barrie Gym, are announced during the summer.

The Institute, located on the The Barrie School campus in Silver Spring, Maryland, is just a few miles north of Washington, DC. Cultural and educational resources in the nation’s capital are a short drive or a few Metro stops away from the campus.
