Super Camps are limited time week long offerings, providing blasts of fun and learning! Each program is unique and targets a specific interest and age group. Additional fees apply and vary depending on the program and length of day.

DroBots: Junior Drone Pilot Academy
The mission: Captain Droby and her crew (campers) are exploring a faraway planet to discover new energy resources. The challenge: a colony of pesky aliens who will do anything to disrupt Captain Droby’s crew. To conquer the aliens, campers will use a variety of flying, jumping, and rolling drones to navigate their way around the planet and successfully make it back to the mothership. Drobots use the safest and most reliable drone products on the market for enhanced safety and most of all, fun. Campers will learn all of the safety measures as they prepare to learn the basics of drone technology before taking to the air. All campers go home with plenty of Drobots keepsakes and trinkets so the memories last long beyond the summer.
Week 2: June 21 - June 25
DroBots: Star Wars BB8 Adventures
BB8 Adventures takes STEM to a galaxy far far away. This program combines all of the highlights from the latest Star Wars movies, specifically the newest droid, D-0 and the rest of the popular bots, which are certain to excite your camper! Each day, teams of campers (Squads) work together, with encouragement and guidance from their Jedi counselors, to customize droid-like robots and complete various Yoda engineering challenges. Throughout the week, campers will dunk intergalactic basketballs into mini hoops, play BB8 battleship, and joust in the balloon popping droid arena. Each challenge resents the campers with hands-on building and engineering lessons to help make their bots jump up ramps, roll through tunnels, and bounce over barriers. BB8 Adventures offers a friendly and collaborative environment, encouraging teamwork, sportsmanship and positivity - all while introducing campers to become active participants with today’s most applicable, exciting, and new technology.
Week 6: July 19 - July 23
Junior Naturalists
Formerly Bug-A-Boo Nature. Naturalists for a younger audience. Campers will explore the diverse ecosystems across Barrie’s campus. Dig in the dirt, wade in Bel Pre Creek (part of the Anacostia River Watershed), trek through forests looking for examples of the creepy crawly creatures living here. Turn trinkets from nature found the daily adventures into interesting and creative works of art.
Week 5: July 12 - July 16
Kids Cuisine: Colorful Cool Foods!
Campers will have the opportunity to learn about the health benefits of several colorful foods as well as practical applications for adding these helpful foods into a meal or snack item! Campers have the opportunity to learn various aspects of the nutritional properties for fruits and vegetables as well as any additional foods of choice that a camper would like to examine and explore further. This program will show campers the uses and benefits of natural foods, spices and the usefulness of the average household pantry item. Some past favorite spices to use in cooking are cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, clove, and sea salt. All of these spices have magnificent nutritional properties and taste great!

Kids Cuisine: BBQ Madness!
Campers will have the opportunity to explore the mini wonders of barbecue foods and grilling! Campers will learn about what grilling is, how it’s done, where it’s popular and about the flavor components that grilling adds to food, as well as discuss and choose several barbecue or barbecue party items that campers would like to re-create. Campers will learn how to make oven baked beans, potato salad, grilled kebabs, marinated grilled vegetables and more!
Week 4: July 6 - July 9
Mad Science: Dinosaurs and Ancient Worlds
Dig up dinosaurs and the ancient past! Solve real-life mysteries! Kids learn about archaeology and the techniques scientists use to excavate fossils and long-lost cities! They also study bone fragments, pottery shards, amber deposits, and fossils to understand what they can tell us about history! What’s more, each class includes a make and take-home project, like a fossil reproduction, an amber time capsule, and coins from around the world! Finally, every camp will receive an unforgettable visit from ‘Tiny T’ an amazingly lifelike 10-year old Tyrannosaurus Rex!

Mad Science: NASA Academy of Future Space Explorers
Blast off with the only camp designed and created specifically by NASA engineers! Set your future space explorers on a trajectory from our Earth’s atmosphere to the outer reaches of our solar system! This hands-on program will bring children closer to the stars, planets, comets, and more. Learn about living in space, getting away from gravity, looking for space phenomena, and participate in a rocket launch!
Week 7: July 26 - July 30
Mad Science: Flight Academy
Calling all pilots! As a Mad Science flight cadet in training, you will discover how airplanes fly. Test your airplane’s performance in a wind tunnel. Build your own kite, stunt plane and model rocket. Ride the air on a Hovercraft. Discover how hot air balloons, blimps, and parachutes work.
Week 9: August 9 - August 13
Super Camps - Mids - Campers entering Grades 3-5
Auto Engineering Makerspace
What makes a car go? Learn the different parts of a motor vehicle by designing cars to meet different challenges. What type of design will survive an impact? How does the size of a vehicle influence its overall design, how can a balloon be used to propel a toy car, Is there such a thing as too many wheels? In this week-long camp, students will investigate these questions and more by designing cars using a variety of materials, and testing designs to create the best possible car to meet the challenge.
Week 4: July 6 - July 9
Culinary Cadets: International Eats!
Campers will have the opportunity to explore international cuisine from various parts of the world and make treasured dishes from an international culture of choice. Campers will learn about the culture, the food staples, cooking style or tradition and they will also try their hand at re-creating an international favorite! Some past favorites are Caribbean style curry chicken, fried plantains, fresh tomato and cucumber salad with vinegar and oil, fried “bake” bread, coconut crusted fish, and homemade Saudi Arabian carrot square for dessert!

DroBots: Fortnite Battle Squads
This program extracts the thrills of Fortnite from the video screen, and delivers the gaming experience directly into a live setting! The Fortnite Island presents campers with a variety of head-to-head challenges. Campers learn to use sophisticated rolling bots, mini foam ball launchers, and jumping drones to simulate the video game battles. Camper Squads work together to establish and defend their “Base” against the other Squads of campers. But beware of the shrinking storm, the Volcano, and the Viking Village. The ultimate goal is to earn points, gather resources, and explore new maps and terrains. Code your rolling bot to land on a portal, and teleport around the block strategically to catch rival Squads off guard and establish alliances. Bring the Counselor, Giant Mech, to its knees.
Week 6: July 19 - July 23
DroBots: Star Wars Empire vs Rebellion
Drone search and rescue is now a necessity for first responders around the world, adding a new layer of solutions in emergency situations. Like real rescuers, campers take part in and learn from simulated missions during this action-packed, creative, and educational week. Participants will learn to fly drones and rely on their rescue team to collect vital data in specific “rescue areas” to locate “victims” and safely assist them. Age-appropriate methods and cutting-edge technology are used when creating plans, missions, and maps. Campers will also learn invaluable lessons on how to simply, quickly, and accurately make informed and targeted suggestions for real-world positive applications.
Week 8: August 2 - August 6
DroBots: Ultimate Drone Obstacle Challenge
This action-packed program is specifically designed for both the novice and experienced drone enthusiasts.Full of excitement, teamwork, learning, and fun, campers enjoy one of the world’s fastest growing sports, Drone Obstacle Course Racing. Throughout the week, campers learn about the basic safety of drone flying and the history behind drone racing as a sport. As the week progresses, campers will advance through various skill challenges, learning how to perform assorted exercises and maneuvers to become familiar with the drone’s speed and agility. Campers will use iPads and remote controls to pitch, yaw and roll their drones through some of Drobots’ most daring obstacle courses. Participants will utilize their creative minds to help design the obstacle layout and then build the obstacle course in preparation for the camp’s final activity and competition.

Super Camps - Majors - Campers entering Grades 6-8
Auto Engineering Makerspace
Learn the basic physics of how cars move by building three different car designs, each with their own unique properties and build goals. Build a car out of K'nex pieces that can carry the most possible ping-pong balls, use recycled materials to make a self-propelled vehicle, and challenge yourself by creating a vehicle that is powered by the spring of a mouse trap. This week long camp will involve lots of building, testing, improving designs, creativity and fun. Students get a chance to explore the physics of movement while learning and practicing the iterative nature of engineering design
Week 4: July 6 - July 9
Climate Cadets
A program for campers craving a more in-depth science and nature program. This Super Camp aims to lay out the foundation to educate and train tomorrow’s stewards of the environment. Campers will learn about climate science, geography, mapping, carbon cycle and the greenhouse effect. Campers will also use Barrie’s natural campus for field work.
Week 7: July 26 - July 30
DroBots: Drone Racing and Obstacle Course Challenge
Get ready to pitch, yaw, roll, and thrust around the Drone Arena in this exhilarating camp program. Throughout the week, campers will enjoy one of the world’s fastest growing sports, Drone Racing. Campers will first learn about the basic safety of drone flying before fine-tuning their hand-eye coordination skills and free fly the drone. Campers will advance through an abundance of skill challenges, both in the air and on the ground, as they learn how to perform various exercises and maneuvers to become familiar with the drone’s speed and agility. Each day, teams of “flight squads” post up against one another in friendly competition as they race against not only one another, but also the clock. Pilots will first maneuver the drone through creative yet compact obstacle courses before taking on the challenge of flying for speed. There is a creative component to this camp program, as flight squads will help to create the course design and then, help build the obstacle course in preparation for the last day’s final activities and Drone Olympic competition.
