Parent Teacher Organization

Volunteers are always needed to help with events such as After Prom, Book Fair, Grandparents and Special Friends Day, the annual fundraising auction For the Love of Barrie, and more!  Your help with planning, set up, staffing the event, and clean up are all greatly appreciated.

Class and Grade Representatives foster communication among parents and assist teachers by helping to organize traditional classroom celebrations, potlucks, class social activities, and work on school-wide events such as International Children’s Day, For the Love of Barrie, Teacher Appreciation Week, The Book Fair, After Prom, Finding Neverland, and others. If interested, please contact the PTO.

Welcome new families to Barrie and serve as a resource to them throughout the school year. Volunteers are needed during the summer to reach out to families. Contact Theresa Valois in the Admission Office to help.

Review the school calendar and contact the PTO about helping to provide leadership.

Assist the Admission Office with outreach by attending school recruitment fairs, helping at an Admission Open House during the year, and welcoming admitted families at spring receptions. Contact Director of Admission John WIlson for more information.

Parent "material maker" volunteers are needed on an occasional basis to assist with a range of class projects and materials in the Lower School Office, which may include organizational projects in classrooms requested by teachers. Contact the Montessori Front Office.

Classes host potlucks for various events throughout the school year. These are paired with program level events, such as International Children’s Day, Songfest, and Folk Tales, and allow parents to get to know each other. All parents are encouraged to participate! Contact your child's teacher for more details.

Barrie’s Parent Diversity Alliance is an intentional space created for parents to incorporate diversity, equity, and inclusion programs and perspectives into the lives of Barrie families. Parents are supported through diversity education, equity initiatives, and inclusive community building events. Alliance gatherings and events happen throughout the school year. Barrie's Advancement Committee ensures that the school has effective development and alumni relations. Volunteers reach out to other Barrie families to encourage their support of the Annual Fund and help organize Annual Fund events including the annual auction, For the Love of Barrie.
