MOVEMENT ELECTIVES
Elective classes are based upon student interest/enrollment and may vary from year to year. Here is a sample of recent Performing Arts electives.
Qigong
Similar to yoga, Qigong is an ancient Chinese practice that integrates physical postures, breathing techniques, and focused intention. “Qi” refers to the life force or vital energy that flows through all things in the universe. “Gong” means accomplishment or a skill that is cultivated through steady practice.
Yoga
Students will learn the basic poses of yoga, including the Sun Salutation Sequence. Yoga is practical and can be adapted to anybody, and it will help reduce stress. Techniques will be used that you can apply during the day before a test or a presentation. If you’ve tried yoga before or if you haven’t you’re welcome to join.
