The Barrie Camp Staff
Staff Recruitment Information and Forms:
There is a professional perspective with a youthful approach Barrie is a year-round, multi-faceted, learning community, comprised of The Barrie School, The Barrie Camp, and a teacher training program called The Institute for Advanced Montessori Studies. In the summer, the camp draws from the expertise and experience of our school’s own faculty and staff. Our camp administrators, program specialists, and those who design the camp program and offer professional support to campers, are primarily teachers from Barrie and other area schools. They create the program, set the tone and mentor our counselor staff in an invaluable way.
The young adults who comprise the counselor staff are the key ingredient in making a summer at Barrie a special experience for every camper. Campers admire counselors and wish to establish and enjoy a special relationship with them. It can be a relationship different than the ones they have with their teachers and parents. Campers know that the counselors have recently “been there” and have similar life experiences. In the eyes of the campers, the counselors seem to have their fingers on the pulse of current trends and issues. Counselors can help campers anticipate what lies ahead and can give a unique brand of support and encouragement.
