Top Honors to Barrie Equestrians!
The Washington Bridle Trails Association hosted their annual awards presentation and dinner on January 18 at the Washington Marriott Hotel in downtown DC. Several Barrie Equestrians earned 2013 year-end awards.
Competing on Barrieʼs Debonair (Deb), Caroline A.D. claimed the year-end championship trophy in the Pre-short Stirrup Division. Caroline, new to equestrian competition, was well matched with Deb, a beloved school horse and show ring veteran. Together they were unbeatable.
Maddie T., aboard her horse Charlotte, earned several year-end awards. In the Open Hunter Division they finished fifth overall. In the Novice Hunter Division, this dynamic duo claimed the year-end championship trophy. Along with her many accomplishments on Charlotte, Maddie is a leading riding on Barrieʼs varsity riding team competing in the Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) and Inter- School Horse Shows (ISHS).
Jacqui K., a former Barrie student, summer camp counselor competed with her horse, Mosey. In their first year of showing together, Jacqui and Mosey were outstanding. They finished forth in the Long Stirrup Division and won the year-end championship trophy in the Young Horsemanship Division. Jacqui and Mosey have come alone way in a very short amount of time.
Paired with Barrieʼs All In One (Alan), Catherine J. competed in the WBTA series for the first time. Finishing fifth in the Long Stirrup and Young Horsemanship Divisions, Catherine and Alan were strong competitors. Catherineʼs poise in the show ring and elegant riding style also bring her great success in the IEA and ISHS team meets.
Cammie R. and Saskia P. competed in the WBTA October show. Aboard the Barrie school horse named Magic, Cammie claimed ribbons in the Long Stirrup classes. Saskia, paired with Barrieʼs Edwina, won ribbons in the Mini-Stirrup and Short Stirrup classes.
Congratulations to our Barrie equestrians! To catch our riders in action, watch the calendar for up coming events.
